Humans of Lifeline — Acting CEO, Communications and Community Engagement Manager - Lifeline North Coast (NSW)

Angela Martin

“It's really grounding to work for an organisation where everyone is working towards a common goal. To help, and to support, and to listen. “

What motivates you to work for Lifeline?

I first experienced the immense value of Lifeline when I called 13 11 14 after my marriage ended and I was feeling overwhelming sadness. I remember the kind voice of the Crisis Supporter and the immense relief I felt having someone to talk to in the early hours of the morning.','I realised then, how incredible the service was so when the opportunity came up to work with Lifeline, I had to apply. To work for an organisation that has a heart. I'm really proud to be part of the team at Lifeline, and what we do to make a real difference. Notably, people that gravitate towards us are some of the most emotionally intelligent and genuinely kind people within community.

Angela Martin's album

Every day I'm inspired by our crisis support volunteers. To sit in a help seeker's pain over a phone call, strangers that they will never meet, and will never know what happens after the phone hangs up. This to me is an act of pure unconditional love and human connection.

In a world where loneliness and isolation are on the increase, our organisation provides the connection needed that eases pain, saves lives and is making a difference.
